I believe the world is divided among those who anxiously await announcements of color (and fashion) trends for the upcoming year and those who don't.
I'm in the latter group.
Don't get me wrong, I'm interested in the information, I just don't wait with baited breath for the announcement. I believe you should surround yourself with what you love, even if it isn't 'on trend'. Which is why I was so excited that someone finally recognized that vanilla isn't boring!
I equate these on trend shades to a pair of ivory well-tailored, classic trousers or coat. Timeless.
Years ago when I purchased my "fixer upper" I painstakingly agonized over which shade of "off-white" to paint my ceilings (which were peach at the time) and crown moulding (which was brown). Every person I polled thought they all looked the same. I eventually chose 'Latte' for my ceilings and 'Cafe Cream' for the moulding and trim, both were part of the Waverly Classics collection at Lowe's.
The Houzz article (link below) by San Francisco based designer, Jennifer Ott, does a great job of breaking down the subtleties of each featured color and where to best use them.
As you might have guessed, if the world is divided into chocolate lovers and vanilla lovers, I'm in the latter group.
